THO 6301 Special Topics in theology III: A century of Biblical Studies: Past, present and future
September - December, 2021
This course is intended to provide a retrospective on my work over the last 50 years by focusing on his adoption of sociorhetorical interpretation (SRI) for Biblical study. The course will review Biblical approaches leading up to the introduction of SRI, and then provide an introduction to the use of SRI. Students will undertake a critical examination of SRI through examining a Biblical (or related) text of their choosing and (if they wish) a comparative study of the same text using a different approach.
